A Ford Bantam bakkie was hijacked on the corner of Roets and Plein Street on November 25. The victim stopped his bakkie at the stop sign when two armed men approached him and forced him out of the vehicle.
The suspects sped off in the direction of Balfour via the Spookbrug Road. Members of Rensburg CPF witnessed the crime and immediately engaged in a high-speed pursuit of the suspects. Police joined in and were hot on their tracks.
Due to the nature of the high-speed chase, the suspects lost control of the vehicle and collided with oncoming traffic. Police managed to detain the suspects until emergency medical services arrived. The suspects had minor to moderate injuries. No other injuries reported.
