On November 19, a truck driver parked his vehicle 500m after the N3 De Hoek Toll Plaza in the direction of Johannesburg. He was approached by an unknown African male who aimed his firearm at the driver. He instructed the victim to walk to the bushes where they met another three African males. They took cash and searched the truck for more valuable items. Three cellphones and cash were stolen from the scene but the load of the truck was left untouched.
A carjacking took place in Schoeman Street when a victim was buying spares for his car on November 19 around 10:00. The victim left the store when he realised that the boot of his car was open. He went to close the boot when an unknown person approached the car and said he was from a tracking company. The victim refused the suspect access to the car and was then threatened with a firearm. The suspect drove off with the car which was later recovered in Vosloorus.
Another carjacking took place on the N3 before the Spookbrug offramp. The victim was driving in the direction of Johannesburg in his white Toyota Quantum (01 2M PD GP) bus when a vehicle came from behind at high speed and forced him off the road. According to Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate (spokesperson: Heidelberg SAPS), five suspects forced the victim into the back. One of the men had a firearm on him. They took him to an unknown gravel road and instructed the victim to sleep. The suspects then removed the tracking device and abandoned the victim in a field.
In an incident on November 23, a man was murdered at the Heidelberg taxi rank. It is alleged that the victim had a fight with two suspects over a bottle of alcohol. One of the suspects broke a beer bottle and proceeded to stab the victim. The victim lost consciousness and fell to the ground. Medical services were dispatched and the victim was declared dead on the scene. A preliminary investigation by Heidelberg SAPS resulted in the successful arrest of the two suspects at Heidelberg Hospital after one of them was seeking medical attention.
