The N3 South between Spruitview and the Leondale offramp was closed due to an earlier cash in transit (CIT) heist.
A video posted on Twitter earlier shows a part of the incident. The driver of the CIT vehicle was critically injured during the robbery and transported to a nearby hospital. He was reportedly shot several times in the early hours of February 13.
Traffic was heavily backed up and motorists were re-directed via Heidelberg Road (R554).
