Heidelberg Post Office has moved

Plea to move the post office back to Heidelberg.

Heidelberg Central Post Office has moved and chaos reigns.

The Heidelberg Post Office in town is no more and the only post office in the Heidelberg area is now in Rensburg.
This post office is plagued by long queues and people loitering in the area.

There are no toilet facilities and there is a strong smell of urine in the nearby park where people are relieving themselves.

It has been reported that some of those loitering in the area or waiting in the queues have harassed passers-by and people waiting in their cars.

The only post office in the Heidelberg area is now in Rensburg.

There have also been reports of them attempting to break into vehicles.

DA councillor Mirna Mulder has sent an urgent letter to the Lesedi Local Municipality, Gauteng Parliament, as well as Parliament informing the authorities of the situation.

Mulder has also informed the executive mayor Mluleki Nkosi personally.

A request was made by Mulder to the authorities for consideration to move the post office back to the original location opposite the Heidelberg Magistrates Court.

“There are toilet facilities, water and shaded areas for everyone waiting in queues,” Mulder said.

“The same issues are currently at Home Affairs in HF Verwoerd Street.”

The only post office in the Heidelberg area is now in Rensburg.

“The municipality has already issued the Post Office with a notification to ensure that there are facilities for potential customers but up to now it has fallen on deaf ears.”
