On May 12, International Nurses Day day was celebrated across the globe.
Life Suikerbosrand Hospital in Heidelberg also joined in to celebrate the day. As part of the celebrations, the nurses at Suikerbosrand reaffirmed their pledge to serve the hospital and the patients to the best of their ability.
Merle Victor, chief nurse officer at Life Healthcare said, “We are proud of the sacrifices our nurses are making each day to tend to our patients. They have earned the respect of an entire country for their valiant efforts during the pandemic.”
“Our nurses are tired. The waves that they experienced since 2020 have really taken a toll on them. But despite that, they still show up, come to work, and take care of our patients. So just with them doing it, there is hope.”
Life Suikerbosrand Hospital manager Kubashnee Naidoo added, “International Nurses Day is an opportunity for the Life Group to thank nurses for taking up the challenge of making ordinary care special through being mindful and thoughtful in the care they deliver.
“During the pandemic in the last few years, we have witnessed the resilience and strength of our nursing fraternity. It has shown us how important it is to invest in our current talent and future nurses.
