SAPS raise awareness about bullying in schools

Roadshow was taken to schools to teach children about bullying and its effects.

Crime protection officer Captain Mzwandile Blose from the Heidelberg SAPS visited JW Lückhoff School to address the learners about bullying.

Blose explained to the learners that criticism and bullying in schools result in disobedience.

It was emphasised that learners need to understand the effects of their behaviour on other learners – it could cause mental, emotional and physical damage.

Blose also spoke about the use of drugs and cautioned learners to stop bringing weapons to schools.

He appealed to parents to instil discipline and respect in their children. This will assist teachers to ensure discipline and safety on school premises during school hours.

Anyone who knows of a child being bullied or harmed, is encouraged to contact their nearest police station.
