Summit aims to attract investment
Investment opportunities aplenty in Lesedi Local Municipality.
On June 29, an Economic Investment summit was held in the Heidelberg City Hall hosted by the Lesedi Local Municipality.
The summit aimed to firstly attract new investment for the Lesedi region and secondly to grow existing stakeholders to ensure that prosperity in the region can be maintained.
There were various speakers at the summit that included Hector Motau, Executive Mayor of Lesedi Mluleki Nkosi, Deputy Minister of Department of Trade and Industry Fikile Majola, MEC of the Gauteng Provincial Government Department of Economic Development, Agricultural and Environment Parks Tau and Executive Mayor of Sedibeng Lerato Maloka, to name a few.

“We need to get investors to take a chance on Lesedi and see it as a growing investment to get the economy to start flourishing again,” Nkosi said.
“We need to improve infrastructure to ensure that Lesedi is a place where future investors want to be part of.
“To get that right we need to grow the infrastructure, tourism and industry in Lesedi so that it is a viable option for investors to be part of.”
“There is already progress for potential investors in a development phase. We have already identified specific markets for potential investment.
“The downside is that crime, corruption and unemployment are hampering the progress.
“Everyone has a role to play to ensure future success and to build a better life for all in Lesedi.

“Rest assured that the investors that have already invested and any future investments that your investment is safe and secure.”
The Vaal Special Economic Zone’s, Xola Sitole said, “There is already industrial sustainability in Sedibeng.

“We are working on a cleaner environment in various industries for a greener area. Together with skills development, renewable space and agriculture, tourism revitalisation Lesedi and Sedibeng as a whole will be a multisector economic zone where if everyone works together will be a success through various partnerships with role players.”
Furthermore, some speakers touched on the energy resources needed.
In short, the message was improving infrastructure to ensure that Lesedi is a place where investors want to be part of and with a greener environment and sustainable industries, Lesedi will be a sought-after commodity.
