Reminder: Planned pipeline maintenance to affect water supply

Rand Water has scheduled the planned maintenance today.

Rand Water has scheduled planned maintenance on its S4 pipeline to tie-in a new portion of the pipeline to the existing S4 pipeline.

The 53-hour project will commence from 17:00 on August 11 (today) until 22:00 on August 13.

The S4 pipeline runs from the Mapleton booster pumping station to Van Dyk Park.

According to a statement by the Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM), Rand Water’s Brakpan and Selcourt reservoirs will be affected as pumping at the Mapleton booster pumping station will be reduced from 730MI to 530MI.

In the event that these reservoirs run empty, the following areas within the LLM will be affected:
• Devon
• Visckuil/Endicott
• Jameson Park
• Heidelberg
• Ratanda

The LLM acknowledges the inconvenience this may cause and advises residents not to panic.

Residents and businesses are urged to store minimum volumes of water for basic use and to switch off geysers and other nonessential water features during the shutdown.
