Bird watchers enjoy evening under the stars
Bird watchers came from across the East Rand to enjoy the evening under the stars.
Nature lovers and birders from all over the East Rand enjoyed a night under the stars at the Marievale Nature Reserve on September 17.
Keen birders were guided on a short walk by Stan Madden, a well-known ornithologist after which a bring-and-braai was held at the picnic site.
Constant Volschenk of the Wits Planetarium later showcased the night skies through their huge telescopes.
This popular event is organised by the Friends of Marievale Nature Reserve to raise funds for maintaining the facilities.
