The N3TC Meals on Wheels Heidelberg will host a cycle challenge on October 16.

The Meals on Wheels Cycle Challenge is an event that strives to bring relief to the Vaal Triangle’s less fortunate and elderly.
The challenge was first initiated to provide for the elderly but has since expanded to help those who aren’t able to provide for themselves.
The challenge will be held at the Sedaven High School in Heidelberg and entrants can choose to participate in either the 40km or the 90km race.
The 90km race will start at 07:00 and the 40km race will start at 07:30.
All participants must note that the use of helmets is compulsory and that cyclists are to obey the traffic rules as well as the instructions of traffic officials and marshals.
The entry fees for the races are as follows:
• For the 40km race, pre-entries are R250 per rider and late entries R270.
• For the 90km race, pre-entries are R300 per rider and late entries R320.
Entries close on October 12 at midnight.
Numbers can be collected at the Cycle Lab in Fourways, on October 14 from 13:00 to 16:30, or at the Sedaven High School in Heidelberg, on October 16 from 06:00.
Timing boards will also be distributed at registration. Cyclists must attach the boards to their seat posts as instructed.
The first 600 online pre-entrants will receive jackets.
All race finishers will also receive medals and trophies will be given to the category winners.
All funds raised by this event will contribute towards meals for the elderly.
Participants are also encouraged to bring blankets or canned food in support of the Meals on Wheels Food project.
