Lesedi not keeping up with legal agreements
Lesedi’s electricity debt is a staggering R121m.
Lesedi Municipality is failing to meet the agreements between themselves and the power utility, Eskom.
On November 3, Eskom sent out a statement raising concerns about the power supply in the Lesedi Municipal catchment area.
When Eskom sent out the previous statement, raising the same concerns LLM owed Eskom R21m in September.
The October account has escalated to a staggering R121m. That is inclusive of the R112m that is in arrears.
Eskom has shifted the blame directly on Lesedi Municipality’s shoulders, as LLM is not keeping up with the arrangements that have been put in place.
LLM is also not coming up with alternative plans and agreements to pay off the debt.
The previous agreement between Eskom and LLM is still legal, as it was signed by both parties under an electricity supply agreement.
The concern and question are what is Lesedi Local Municipality going to do and will consumers suffer due to LLM not keeping up with the legal agreement?
LLM was asked to provide their side of the story. No comment has been received.
