Roads closed due to protest

This morning at about 05:30, the community members of Alrapark and Mackenzieville began protesting about service delivery issues.
Constable Ignatius Maphike, the media liaison officer for the EMPD, confirmed that the protest is ongoing.

“The protest at the Balfour Road four-way stop is still underway, with protestors burning tyres and blocking the road,” Maphike said.
“The SAPS members and the EMPD are on site to monitor the situation.”

The roads leading to Secunda, Devon, Balfour, Nigel and Heidelberg were closed around Alrapark.
It is suggested that motorists use alternative roads.
