Lesedi Community Centre appeals for pre-loved bicycles for shelter children

The Lesedi Community Centre is urging Heidelberg residents to donate pre-loved bicycles to bring joy, confidence and a sense of normal childhood to children at a local shelter.

The Lesedi Community Centre is calling on members of the Heidelberg community to donate pre-loved bicycles to benefit children at a local women and children’s shelter.

The appeal aims to provide young residents with bicycles to help restore a sense of a normal childhood while promoting confidence, independence, and outdoor activity.

Jaco Kritzinger from the Lesedi Community Centre highlighted the impact such donations can have on the children.

“We believe every child deserves the simple joy of riding a bicycle and the freedom that comes with it. For many of the children in our care, this is an opportunity to build confidence, create happy memories, and experience a sense of normal childhood. We encourage the community to come together and support this initiative, as even one donated bicycle can make a lasting difference in a child’s life,” he said.

Kritzinger said bicycles are currently needed for girls aged five, six and seven, as well as boys aged 11 and 12.

“We want our children to experience a carefree childhood filled with happiness and adventure. A bicycle can truly change a child’s world. Donated bicycles should be in good, usable condition,” he said.

Residents who wish to contribute can arrange donations to Lesedi Community Centre via WhatsApp on 084 854 1897.
