Murder at accident scene in Heidelberg
An accident scene turned into a murder investigation.

Station Street in Heidelberg was the scene of an accident and subsequent murder on March 29.
The accident involved a male pedestrian struck by a woman driving a Nissan Almera at about 18:00.
The woman contacted her father, and another driver stopped to assist and called for an ambulance because the pedestrian was injured.
The woman’s father arrived, and a war of words erupted between him and this driver.
The father threatened to stab him and his wife with a knife he produced.
The driver then retrieved a sjambok from his vehicle and assaulted the father.
The father then produced his firearm and shot the driver, who died on the scene.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital because of the serious injuries he sustained.
The Heidelberg SAPS arrested the father and took him to the hospital because he had injured his middle finger during the altercation.
Thereafter, they took him to the Heidelberg Police Station, where charges against him were laid.
The arrested man will soon appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court.
The deceased (51) was taken to Heidelberg Pathology.
