A member of Heidelberg SAPS received a report on May 28 of an assault in the Heidelberg CBD.
Upon arrival, members of the public pointed out the suspect to the SAPS member.
A victim, a man, was lying on the ground. According to the witness, the suspect assaulted the man with a brick.
There were visible injuries on his head, and the man was unconscious.
The SAPS member arrested the suspect and detained him at the Heidelberg Police Station.
They took the victim to the hospital by ambulance.
Upon further investigation, it has come to light that the suspect works for the South African Defense Force in Pretoria.
The suspect will appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate Court on May 30, where they released him on bail.
