Kidnapping victims rescued by SAPS

One person was also arrested during the incident.

Police rescued two kidnapping victims following a high-speed chase on July 5.

Heidelberg SAPS officials patrolled the R103 when they noticed a vehicle driving at high speed.

A chase ensued, and the law enforcers stopped the vehicle. The driver and three passengers jumped out of the car, running in different directions.

The police arrested one suspect after they found an unlicensed firearm and five rounds of ammunition in his possession.

The police members discovered two hijacked victims in the car’s boot when searching the vehicle.

According to the SAPS report, these victims were hijacked in Thokoza on June 4.

Four armed suspects arrived in a yellow Toyota Quantum, instructing the victims to get into the Quantum. Initially, the victims attempted to run away, but their hijackers caught them and brought them back to the vehicle.

The hijackers tied their victims’ hands and covered their faces before taking them to an unknown field, where they kept them overnight.

The hijackers transferred their victims to another vehicle, where they forced their victims into the boot.

The police found the recovered, unlicensed firearm was stolen in Brooklyn, Pretoria. The vehicle was hijacked in Dobsonville, Soweto.

The police transferred the case to the Thokoza Police Station for further investigations.
