
JaĆ©n-Lee Pyne, accused of the murder of Etienne du Preez and attempted murder of Flip Minnaar, appeared in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court on February 7.
Pyne also appeared on charges of GBH and malicious damage to property, relating to another case, and for the murder of Musa Gumede, whose body was found buried at Pyne’s former residence.
The Du Preez and Minaar murder and attempted murder case was postponed to March 19 as the decision of the senior public prosecutor is awaited regarding the transfer of the case to the regional or high court.
The GBH and malicious property damage case, which has been on the court roll since January 2023, was postponed to February 18.
Pyne initially applied for Legal Aid SA to represent him, but the court denied his request.
After contesting this refusal, it has finally been approved that Legal Aid SA may represent him. The dedicated attorney will be made known on February 18.
The Gumede murder case was postponed to March 19 for a formal bail application.
