The local police opened an inquest docket after a pedestrian found the body of a 38-year-old woman hanging from a tree in Rensburg on March 8.
According to Heidelberg SAPS corporate communications officer Constable Doris Nkosi, the pedestrian found the body on Eugene Marais Street and contacted Crime Stop Security.
When a security member arrived, he contacted emergency medical services. Paramedics then declared the woman deceased.
The Heidelberg SAPS was contacted, and AfriForum Heidelberg helped cordon off the scene.
The woman has been identified, and police confirmed a relative found a suicide note.
The police will investigate further and appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
