Weekly crime stats

Local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between March 17 and 23.

Sector 1:

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve).

• N3 North Highway: Carjacking and attempted murder, N3 North Highway, March 21 at 18:45.

• N3 North Highway: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 North Highway, March 23 at 20:30.

• Heidelberg Kloof Estate: Residential burglary, Hammerkop Street, March 19 at 22:00.

• Spaarwater: Business burglary: R23 Benoni Road, March 21 at 17:00.

• Groenfontein: Stock theft, Groenfontein, March 20 at 17:00.

• N3 North Highway: Truck hijacking, N3 North Highway, March 19 at 19:30.

• Spaarwater: GBH assault, R23 Benoni Road, March 15 at 23:30.

• Bergsig: Residential burglary, Lelie Street, March 14 at 11:00.

Property involved: Toyota Starlet, cellphones, BMW, iPad, camera, laptop, sunglasses, computer monitor, bubble bath machine, flash light, power bank, wallet, cows, Mercedes Benz truck and trailer, TV, and a microwave.

Sector 2

(Boschfintein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein).

• Shalimar Ridge: Attempted rape, Vaal Street, March 21 at 20:00.

• Heidelberg Central: Common assault, Du Preez Street, March 19 at 14:00.

• Heidelberg Central: Common assault, van Der Westhuizen Street, March 23 at 18:10.

• Heidelberg Ext 5: Theft of motor vehicle, Schoeman Street, March 19 at 07:00.

• Heidelberg CBD: Attempted theft of motor vehicle, Begeman Street, March 20 at 15:45.

• Shalimar Ridge: Theft general, Kismet Street, March 21 at 09:16.

• Boschfontein: Assault GBH, R549 Vaaldam Road, March 18 at 10:50.

• Heidelberg Ext 5: Theft general, Blythe Avenue, March 18 at 23:00.

• Jordaanpark: Theft of motor vehicle and fraud, Wessel Street, March 13 at 16:30.

• Shalimar Ridge: Possession of stolen livestock, Kismet street, March 18 at 09:35.

Property involved: Volkswagen beach buggy, Toyota Fortuner, liquor, electric tools, trailer, and goats.

Sector 3

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lasgerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)

• Rensburg: Theft general and fraud, Romyn Street, March 13 at 16:00.

• N3 South Highway: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 South Highway, March 18 at 20:00.

• N3 South Highway: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 South Highway, March 17 at 14:30.

Property involved: Truck wheels, cellphone and money, Isuzu LDV, Toyota Hilux and trailer.

Heidelberg SAPS is calling on community members to report all crimes that take place in their areas.

Police can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported. This will also allow police to focus on hotspot areas.
