Heidelberg SAPS releases weekly crime report
The Heidelberg SAPS urges community members to report crimes in their areas because they can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported.
The local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between April 7 and 13.
The stats have been shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1: (Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)
• Groenfontein: Stock theft, Groenfontein, April at 23:15.
• Bergsig: Theft of car on Leslie Street, April 5 at 17:20.
Property involved: Cows and Hyundai Getz.
Sector 2: (Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Business burglary on Voortrekker Street, April 8 at 17:00.
Property involved: Extension cord, Wap machine and a vacuum cleaner.
Sector 3: (Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lasgerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)
• Heidelberg Industrial: Business burglary on Stasie Street, April 12 at 01:15.
• Rensburg: Sexual assault on DF Malan Street, April 6 at 06:00.
• Houtpoort: Damage to essential infrastructure, Houtpoort, April 10 at 14:30.
• N3: Hijacking and kidnapping, April 17 at 10:00.
• N3: Hijacking and kidnapping, April 9 at 19:00.
• Rensburg: Theft general, Vos Street, April 8 at 07:20.
Property involved: Cable; Hino truck; Mercedes-Benz Actros truck, trailer and laptop.
The Heidelberg SAPS urges community members to report all crimes in their areas because they can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported. This will also allow police to focus on hotspots.
