Heidelberg SAPS weekly crime stats report
Law enforcement has its hands full trying to control crime in Heidelberg.
The local SAPS released these statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between April 21 and April 27.
The stats are shared to create awareness in the community about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1 (Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)
• Heidelberg: Truck hijacking and kidnapping on the R103 Alberton Road on April 22 at about 09:20.
• Bergsig: Residential burglary on Gousblom Street on April 24 at about 10:00.
• N3 North: Carjacking and kidnapping on the N3 North on April 24 at 17:30.
Property involved: Tata truck, cellphones, TV, laptop, shoes, Toyota Corolla and a Ford Fiesta.
Sector 2 (Boschfintein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)
• Shalimar Ridge: Possession of presumed stolen property on Kismet Street on April 24 at 17:52.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Theft out of a vehicle on Schoeman Street on April 23 at 16:20.
• Shalimar Ridge: Theft general on Sagar Street on April 22 at 04:00.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft general on Voortrekker Street on April 25 at 14:00.
• Heidelberg Central: Malicious damage to property on Jacobs Street on April 26 at 10:20.
Property involved: Toolbox with tools, AMC-branded pots, a cellphone, money and a vehicle window.
Sector 3 (Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lasgerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)
• N3: Carjacking and kidnapping on the N3 South on April 24 at 18:40.
• N3: Carjacking and kidnapping on the N3 South on April 23 at 22:00.
Property involved: Nissan NP200, cellphone, wallet, money and a Toyota Rumion.
The Heidelberg SAPS asks community members to report all crimes in their areas because they can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported. This will also allow police to focus on hotspots.
