Heidelberg weekly crime report: Vehicle theft and infrastructure targeted
Heidelberg SAPS is calling on community members to report all crimes that take place in their areas.
The local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between July 28 and August 3.
The police shared the statistics to create awareness in the community about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1:
(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)
• National Road 1: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 North freeway, July 30 at 19:00.
• National Road 1: Carjacking and kidnapping, R550 Road, July 30 at 10:45.
• Groenfontein: Theft of motor vehicle, Jacob’s Street, July 30 at 16:35.
• Groenfontein: Theft from motor vehicle, Louw Street, July 29 at 17:00.
• National Road 1: Truck hijacking, N3 North freeway, July 31 at 11:35.
• Bergsig: Attempted residential burglary, Daffodil Avenue, August 3 at 00:20.
• Eendracht: Business robbery, Eendracht, August 1 at 23:00.
• Spaarwater: Damage to essential infrastructure and general theft, Spaarwater, July 31 at 16:00.
• Spaarwater: Possession of hijacked truck, First Street, August 1 at 17:00.
Property involved: Hyundai Accent, cellphone, money, tablet, Toyota Hilux, Ford Everest, vehicle wheels, Hino truck, transformer, cattle, cable, and Tata truck.
Sector 2:
(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)
• Heidelberg Central: Theft general, Jordaan Street, July 29 at 14:21.
• Boschfontein: Theft general, Flamink Street, July 30 at 06:30.
• Schickfontein: Robbery with firearm, Schickfontein, July 29 at 13:00.
• Heidelberg Central: Theft general, Mertz Street, July 29 at 01:30.
• Jordaan Park: Malicious damage to property, Springbok Street, July 29 at 22:00.
• Heidelberg Central: Residential burglary and theft from motor vehicle, Louw Street, July 29 at 17:00.
• Boschfontein: Residential burglary, Flamink Street, August 1 at 00:30.
• Heidelberg Central: Attempted theft of a motor vehicle, Louw Street, August 2 at 09:45.
Property involved: Gate motor, pressure pump, cellphone, fence, paving, tools, radio, solar geyser, copper cable, circuit breaker, and Toyota Fortuner.
Sector 3:
(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)
• N3 South Freeway: Carjacking and kidnapping, August 1 at 18:30.
Property involved: Isuzu LDV, generator, and pressure hammer.
Heidelberg SAPS is calling on community members to report all crimes that occur in their areas.
Police can only respond to criminal activities if victims report incidents.
This will also allow police to focus on crime hotspots.
