Heidelberg SAPS weekly crime report: Burglaries, theft and hijacking incidents recorded

The latest crime statistics highlight ongoing property-related crime, with incidents reported across Sectors 1, 2 and 3, including a hijacking and attempted murder.

The following crimes were reported to Heidelberg SAPS between March 9 to 15.

These statistics are shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve):

• Bergsig – Residential burglary, Dahlia Street, March 15 at 08:40.

• Bergsig – Armed robbery, March 12 at 10:30.

• Spaarwater – Residential burglary, Third Street, March 9 at 06:45.

Property involved: Cellphone, laptop, sandwich maker, and an ornament.

Sector 2

(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein):

• Heidelberg Central – Residential burglary, Van der Westhuizen Street, March 14 at 03:50.

• Bosfontein – General theft, Flamink Street, March 13 at 17:00.

• Heidelberg Central – Malicious damage to property and general theft, Berlyn Street, March 13.

• Heidelberg CBD – General theft, Voortrekker Street, March 10 at 09:30.

• Heidelberg Central – Theft of motor vehicle, Hospital Street, March 11 at 08:30.

• Shalimar Ridge – Attempted murder and armed robbery, Jumna Avenue, March 8 at 19:30.

Property involved: Gas Cylinder, braai stand, water pipe, dustbin, money, Kia K2700, and a cellphone.

Sector 3

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal):

• National Road 3 – Hijacking and kidnapping – N3 South Freeway, March 12 at 19:00.

• Rensburg – General theft, JG Strydom Street, March 10 at 21:00.

• Rensburg – General theft, DF Malan Street, March 11 at 12:42.

Property involved: Suzuki Ertiga, cellphone, money, gate motor, clothing, perfume, and jewellery.
