Heidelberg SAPS weekly crime report: hijacking, theft and burglary cases recorded

Weekly SAPS report reveals crime hotspots in Heidelberg, including the CBD and Rensburg, with incidents ranging from theft to hijacking.

The following crimes were reported to Heidelberg SAPS between March 16 and 22.

These statistics are shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve):

• Spaarwater – General theft, R23 Benoni Road, March 19.

• Groenfontein – General theft, Jacobs Street, March 19 at 13:40.

• Bergsig – Residential burglary, Daffodil Street, March 17 at 10:30.

• Eendracht – Residential burglary, R23 Benoni Road, March 16 at 17:00.

Property involved: Gate motor, money, TV, TV stand, bed, clothing, cellphone, sound system, and solar battery.

Sector 2

(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein):

• Heidelberg CBD – Business robbery, Voortrekker Street, March 22 at 11:45.

• Heidelberg CBD – Business burglary, HF Verwoerd Street, March 19 at 22:11.

• Heidelberg CBD – Theft of motor vehicle, Voortrekker Street, March 22 at 00:30.

• Shalimar Ridge – Robbery with weapon other than a firearm, Suikerbekkie Street, March 17 at 18:40.

• Heidelberg Ext 6 – Residential burglary, End Street, March 17 at 22:00.

• Heidelberg CBD – Theft of motor vehicle, Voortrekker Street, March 19 at 15:30.

• Heidelberg Central – Residential burglary, Strydom Street, March 17 at 08:00.

Property involved: Cellphone, money, soap, laptop, iPad, Kia Picanto, bicycle, taps, copper pipes, Ford Ranger, and extension cables.

Sector 3

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal):

• National Road 3 – Hijacking and kidnapping, N3 South Freeway, March 20 at 20:15.

• Rensburg – House break-in with intent unknown to the state prosecutor, DF Malan Street, March 21 at 17:30.

• Rensburg – Theft out of motor vehicle, Walker Street, March 16 at 10:15.

Property involved: Toyota Rush, cellphone, money, and a power bank.
