Heidelberg SAPS weekly crime report: Armed robbery reported on R23 Balfour Road
Two hijackings involving kidnappings were also reported on the N3 and R23, with vehicles and valuables stolen.
The following crimes were reported to Heidelberg SAPS between April 13 to 19.
These statistics are shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1
(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve):
• National Road 1 – Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 north freeway, April 14 at 12:30.
• R23 Benoni Road – Carjacking and kidnapping, April 14 at 09:45.
Property involved: Toyota Hilux, cellphone, money, and a Mahindra LDV. Sector 2 (Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein):
• Heidelberg Ext 6 – Common robbery, Voortrekker Street, April 18 at 15:45.
• Shalimar Ridge – Residential burglary, Sager Street, April 17 at 03:30.
• Heidelberg CBD – Theft out of motor vehicle, Ueckermann Street, April 18 at 07:47.
• Heidelberg CBD – Business burglary, Ueckermann Street, April 15 at 18:00.
• Heidelberg Central – Residential burglary, Merz Street, April 13 at 07:15.
Property involved: Cellphone, jewellery, money, a fan, vapes, and tools.

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal):
• Lagerspoort – Residential burglary, April 13 at 18:00.
• National Road 3 – Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 south freeway, April 16 at 19:20.
• R23 Balfour Road – Robbery with firearm, April 15 at 08:30.
• National Road 3 – Common robbery, N3 south freeway, April 15 at 04:22.
• Rensburg – Theft of motor vehicle, Walker Street, April 15 at 22:30.
• National Road 3 – Theft from motor vehicle, N3 south freeway, April 16 at 05:00.
Property involved: Geyser, stove, Hyundai H1, cellphone, money, bank card, wheel, battery, and a Toyota Hilux.
