Heidelberg SAPS weekly crime report: Criminals target business on R23 Balfour Road

Police logged multiple cases, including business robberies and a hijacking on the N3.

The following crimes were reported to Heidelberg SAPS between May 4 and 10.

These statistics are shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve):

• No information pertaining to crimes in this sector was received.

Sector 2 (Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein):

• Heidelberg Ext 6 – Theft of motor vehicle, Marshall Street, May 9 at 11:00.

• Heidelberg Ext 6 – General theft, Voortrekker Street, May 7 at 13:31.

• Bosfontein – Theft from motor vehicle, R549 Vaaldam Road, May 5 at 15:00.

• Heidelberg Central – Sexual assault, Jacobs Street, May 5 at 10:15.

• Heidelberg Central – Residential burglary, Pretorius Street, May 4 at 12:30.

Property involved: Toyota Fortuner, cellphone, fuel tanks, laptop, and a router.

Sector 3

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal):

• National Road 3 – Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 south freeway, May 8 at 18:16.

• Houtpoort – Business robbery, R23 Balfour Road, May 9 at 01:30.

• Rensburg – Robbery with a weapon other than a firearm, Bree Street, May 6 at 09:30.

• Lagerspoort – Business burglary, R23 Balfour Road, May 5 at 16:30.

Property involved: Toyota Prado, cellphone, money, gas cylinder, copper wire, water pump, and a labelling machine.
