Ekurhuleni Water Police recover body from Blesbokspruit in Ratanda

SAPS is probing the circumstances surrounding the recovery of an unknown man’s body from the Blesbokspruit.

Members of the SAPS Ekurhuleni Water Policing and Diving Services recovered the body of an unidentified man from the Blesbokspruit in Ratanda on July 8.

According to Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, communication officer for Gauteng Police Emergency Services, the team was deployed shortly after 17:00 following reports of a body floating in the river near Thabo Mbeki Drive.

The body was recovered and handed over to Ratanda SAPS for further investigation.

In a separate incident the following morning, SAPS Ekurhuleni Water Policing and Diving Services, together with K9 Search and Rescue, recovered the body of a 32-year-old man from a pool in Norkem Park.

The victim was found at the bottom of the pool. It is alleged there was a social event at the premises the night before.
