Heidelberg SAPS weekly crime report: Two hijackings with kidnappings reported near De Hoek Toll Plaza

The latest Heidelberg SAPS statistics show a week marked by two hijacking and kidnapping cases, armed robberies, burglaries and several theft incidents across the area.

The following crimes were reported to Heidelberg SAPS between July 13 and 19.

These statistics are shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve):

• Business burglary, July 16/17, between 17:00 and 08:00, Watsonia Avenue, Bergsig.

Property targeted: Toilet bowl, basins, and plumbing pipes.

Sector 2

(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schikfontein):

• Residential burglary, July 16/17, between 23:00 and 23:00, Heikloof, Boschfontein.

• House robbery, July 17 at 20:30, Schikfontein.

• Robbery with firearm, July 17 at 13:00 (undisclosed location).

• General theft, July 13 at 10:15, Van der Westhuizen Street, Heidelberg Central.

• General theft, July 13 at 07:00, Hospitaal Street, Heidelberg Central.

• General theft, July 16 at 09:30, Shalimar Ridge.

• Fraud, July 16 at 15:45, Oranje Street, Shalimar Ridge.

Property targeted: Clothes, TV, fire extinguishers, toiletries, and a truck battery.

Sector 3

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal):

• Hijacking and kidnapping, July 16 at 18:45, near De Hoek Toll Plaza, N3 South Freeway.

• Hijacking and kidnapping, July 18 at 18:30, near De Hoek Toll Plaza, N3 South Freeway.

• Robbery with firearm, July 14 at 14:30, Lagerspoort, R23 Balfour Road.

• General theft, July 16 at 07:30, Vos Street, Rensburg.

Property targeted: Cash, cellphone, clothes, Hyundai rental car, Isuzu bakkie, and copper wire.
