Local runner completes the Comrades Marathon

Comrades Marathon has come and gone on August 28.

Heidelberg marathon runner Robin Williams (74) completed the gruelling 90.2km marathon at 11:11:50.

The route this year was from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.

Williams finished in the 8 109th position.

This is Williams’ second Comrades Marathon.

He competed in his first Comrades Marathon in 2019.

Due to Covid-19, there was no marathon running from 2019 until 2022.

Perseverance, sweat, hard work and tons of training came to a head on Comrades day and achieving a personal best and a medal made all the hard work worth every drop of sweat.
