Safety issues to be addressed.

Gauteng Department of Community Safety held an induction workshop on October 25.

The workshop was for the Lesedi Community Safety Forum (CSF) at the Heidelberg town hall.

The induction was led by Gauteng Department of Safety Southern Corridor director Pamela Pule and MMC for Community Services for Lesedi Thulani Mashinini.

The specific framework of the CSF is designed at building systems and forming partnerships to create an environment within LLM towards reducing and preventing crime which is currently on the increase.

Furthermore, they want to create awareness among the community to take community safety seriously.

The onus is also to encourage communities to take responsibility for their neighbourhoods through active participation in all community safety initiatives.

LLM Executive Mayor Mluleki Nkosi encouraged all in the induction meeting to continue with the work they have done so far.

“We must all assist in stopping criminal behaviour in our communities. They are all worried about the criminals running rampant through the area. That includes narcotics, human trafficking, sexual crimes, murder, hijackings, robberies, house and car break-ins and vandalism of infrastructure to name a few.

“We need to work together to stop the criminal elements from destroying everything that we are working so hard to build up,” concluded Nkosi.
