Cambridge lose home game
The Cambridge team sees the loss as a learning opportunity and hopes to come back stronger.
Cambridge FC played against Tembisa Outfit Ambassadors FC on January 21.
The team from Tembisa is ranked fourth on the league log.
“The hot weather ensured a slow start to the game,” said the Cambridge team chairperson, Ignatius Maphike.
“Our boys kept good possession of the ball, but the opposing team brought the pressure.”
After the ball hit the hand of Cambridge player Thomas Kodisang, Tembisa scored the first goal from the resulting penalty kick.
The first half ended 1-0 in favour of the Tembisa team.
“The second half also saw the Cambridge boys struggle to gain momentum,” Maphike said.
“A few changes were made to the team to bring in fresh players, but it was one of those days.”
During the second half, Cambridge scored when Siphosihle Lumbuka netted the ball.
“Our players lost focus in the final minutes of the game and gave the opposing team a chance to score again, which they did,” Maphike said.
The game ended with a score of 2-1 to Tembisa Outfit Ambassadors FC.
“It’s disappointing to lose a home game, but we can only learn from this and come back stronger,” Maphike concluded.
