Dikoena FC retains the top position in the Mafia League
Cerrutiville played hard to move out of the relegation zone.
Dikoena Nigel FC walked away the winner after locking horns against Cerrutiville FC and finishing the Mafia League game 5-1 at Mackenzieville on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams were in high spirits, hoping to win and collect points, but Dikoena was better prepared and scored the first goal in the first half.
Dikoena fought to keep the first position on the log because they could lose to Dream Team FC.
Their counterparts, Cerrutiville FC, also faced the relegation zone.
The game went to halftime, and Dikoena led by one goal after Lele Twala scored the opening goal a few minutes before halftime.
Twala told African Reporter, “The game was not as challenging as expected. Our counterparts didn’t put up much of a fight on the pitch, and scoring those two goals was not that hard.
“It was a team effort, and through hard work, we walked away as winners.”
When Dikoena FC returned for the second half, they wanted to collect more points. Coach Jonas Mahladisa reminded his players of the importance of the game and why they had to win it.
Ten minutes into the second half, Twala struck again and scored a second goal with a brace.
Themba Mahlangu, Rooi Makhubo and Hezkie Ntleko scored the last three goals.
The match ended with Dikoena leading by five goals to Ceruttiville’s one goal scored by Jonny Swartz.
Jonas Mahladisa said he was proud of his team and hoped they kept working hard to retain their first position in the league.
