Illegal residents given notice

It’s time to pack up and go.

Informal residents turned the Bleskokspruit into an eyesore recently by building structures and moving into the area.

A while ago, the group tried their luck across the road at the Sedibeng TVET College on Voortrekker Street.
Law enforcement officials removed them.

The group then moved their belongings across the road to the Blesbokspruit and the issue was reported to the Lesedi Local Municipality.

On April 27, members of the Heidelberg SAPS visited the site and gave the people notice to remove their belongings.

The SAPS members will revisit the site in due course to ensure the group took heed of the notice and moved themselves and their belongings away.

They have two weeks to comply with the notice.

The Blesbokspruit has become an eyesore.

Businesses and residences have complained about the area’s state, saying it had devalued their properties.

There were also concerns about where people use the toilet and the health risks for the rest of Heidelberg.
