Heidelberg residents were up in arms over the issue of no water in certain parts of Heidelberg.
The water issues started in February, and since then, Heidelberg has had only a sporadic water supply.
Initially, Rand Water said the fault lay on the Lesedi Local Municipalitys (LLM) side, and the LLM said Rand Water was at fault.
Through testing done by the LLM and Rand Water, it was found that the issue was Rand Waters fault.
Each time a problem was resolved, another showed its ugly head and more water problems occurred.
If it was not a pipeline issue, vandalism and a lack of maintenance, load-shedding wreaked havoc with the pumps.
Coupled with that, one of the reservoirs booster pumps flooded as well, and getting everything dry takes hours if not days.
From the middle of last month, the water supply pressure started to ease, and water started syphoning through to the taps of Heidelberg.
Rand Water assisted and set a temporary bypass so that Heidelberg could get water.
At the end of last month, another water pressure drop was detected, and the reservoirs again took the strain.
The sewage and stormwater manager for the LLM, Star Moholobela, tested the water pressure and supply to Heidelberg daily.
Residents and business owners asked the LLM mayor, Mluleki Nkosi, and his executive committee to take action.
Businesses cannot function 100% with the problems in Heidelberg.
Community members experiencing water issues can report them to Lesedis Call Centre on 016 330 0400.
