NPO feeds up to 300 beneficiaries twice a week

The Wayside Feeding and Development Organisation (NPO) is a community-based organisation that provides hot meals to approximately 300 beneficiaries twice a week.
The beneficiaries are mostly woman, children, the elderly and disabled. The organisation started cooking for children roaming the streets around Nigel and Alra Park in June/July 2016 during the holiday times.
They started their community garden at Happiness Primary School in April 2017 after realising the need of a nutritious meal to some community members.
“After the Covid-19 pandemic, we lost a few sponsors. However, we were fortunate enough to receive a customised soup kitchen from Randwater in 2021. We are grateful for the continuous support and generous donation towards our soup kitchens from local businesses. Over the past year, we managed to receive a deep freezer, chairs, tables and a few food supplies,” said founder Nadeemah Javiad.
They rely purely on sponsorships and invite the community of Nigel and surrounds to get involved.
