Local classical singers to perform at town hall
The classical singers are reaching out to music foundations and corporate environments in Heidelberg to help enhance the classical music genre.
The Heidelberg Classical Singers are getting ready for their first performance at the Heidelberg Town Hall on November 23.
Banele Nkosi started this group of 16 musicians from Ratanda, with three other board members.
It was established to create a life through music for its individuals, as most are unemployed.
The group of classical singers is youth-orchestrated and aims to inspire other young musicians in the community.
The group recites famous classical opera compositions and different types of African genres but focuses on classical music to expose more people in the community to this style of music.
Heidelberg Classical Singers recently worked with schools around the community, teaching them choral music and preparing them for school competitions that some schools won up to a provincial level of the SASCE competitions.
The group has also worked with the United Reformed Church in Ratanda and the Old Age Centre in preparations for their competitions.
The Heidelberg Classical Singers are reaching out to foundations and corporate environments in the Heidelberg community to help them enhance their love of classical music.
The group will host their first annual grand concert and have invited all the musical groups they have associated with and those they helped to develop to join them.
The concert will be on November 23 at the Heidelberg Town Hall. Heidelberg Radio will also broadcast live on the day of the show to share the experience. The doors will open at 11:30 and the show will start at noon. Tickets at the door are R80 per person.
