SAPS launch 16 Days of Activism campaign

Violence against women and children is under the spotlight.

The Heidelberg SAPS, led by Social Crime Prevention co-ordinator Constable Doris Nkosi, recently launched the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children in partnership with Siyabengena Patrollers.

The event at the Lesedi Community Centre saw stakeholders gather to raise awareness and address crimes against women and children.

Much violence against women and children goes unnoticed because the incidents are not reported, so the campaign is a chance for the victims to realise that all crimes against women and children need to be reported.

“We wanted to raise awareness on crimes committed against women and children and introduce the services we offer at the Heidelberg Police Station like the Victim Friendly Room (VFR), the GBV Desk and other services” said Nkosi.

Constable Doris Nkosi is the Heidelberg SAPS Social Crime Prevention co-ordinator.
