Cambridge grinds out a win

Cambridge FC laboured a 2-1 winning result against Benoni Northerns at the MacKenzieville Stadium on November 30 in the Hollywood Bets league.
Cambridge FC was slow out of the starting blocks and struggled to build momentum even though they kept possession of the ball.
There were early scoring opportunities, but as being their Achilles’ heel this season, they could not score even though they had chances.
The deadlock was broken in the 30th minute when Cambridge FC striker Ignatius Nyathi, who recovered from an injury, scored the first goal.
The goal was a well-constructed team goal, with Nyathi putting on the final touches.
Benoni tried their utmost to equalise and got the opportunity when Cambridge players lost concentration.

With the second half commencing, CFC played with more purpose and firepower. They also introduced fresh legs into the game but did not convert the scoring chances.
As the second half was winding down, Njabalo (R1) Mhlongo got the ball into the back of the net. Cambridge could withstand the pressure from Benoni and did not allow them to score.
Cambridge secured three log points with their win.
“We will take the points at home which are important for us. We learnt from the first-half mistakes to make sure we got the win. The result is what we hoped for, but we will return to the drawing board and prepare for our next away game against Luso,” said Cambridge head coach John Fairhands Mourihio Mosia.
“We thank the supporters who supported us at home and the Junior Tournament Organisers, who allowed the youngsters to watch their local team play. I am sure various youngsters will represent the club when they are older,” said Cambridge Club chairperson Ignatius Maphike.
