Weekly crime stats report
Over 20 crimes were reported to the Heidelberg SAPS during this period.
The local SAPS released these statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between January 20 and 26.
The stats were shared to create awareness in the community about current crime trends.
Sector 1
• Spaarwater: Theft from motor vehicle, R23 Benoni Road, January 20 at 15:00.
• Bergsig: Theft general, Tulpe Avenue, January 22 at 18:00.
• N3 north: Carjacking, January 17 at 20:00.
• Bergsig: Attempted burglary at residence, Leslie Street, January 25 at 14:00.
Property involved: Vehicle battery, Centurion gate motor and Suzuki Swift.
Sector 2
• Shalimar Ridge: Burglary residential, Sutlej Avenue, January 22 at 11:00.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Burglary residential, Van Zyl Street, January 22 at 07:00.
• Heidelberg Central: Theft of motor vehicle, Jacob Street, January 22 at 08:20.
• Heidelberg CBD: Attempted theft of motor vehicle, Voortrekker Street, January 17.
• Heidelberg Central: Theft out of motor vehicle, Jacob Street, January 22 at 13:45.
• Heidelberg Central: Theft of motor vehicle, Jacob Street, January 21 at 15:41.
• Heidelberg Central: Burglary residential and attempted theft of motor vehicle, Merz Street, January 20 at 04:30.
• Schikfontein: Stock theft, January 16 at 07:30.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: House robbery, Museum Street, January 24 at 10:50.
• Heidelberg CBD: Common robbery, Strydom Street, January 25 at 08:30.
• Heidelberg CBD: Burglary business, Voortrekker Street, January 23 at 17:30.
Property involved: Cellphone, jewellery, laptop, keys, VW Polo, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Fortuner, lights, sports equipment, cows, gas stove and cylinder, and fitting equipment.

• Rensburg: Robbery with firearm, Nel Street, January 23 at 07:40.
• Rensburg: Burglary residential, Vos Street, January 19 at 22:30.
• Rensburg: Burglary residential, Zuid Street, January 19 at 07:00.
• N3 south freeway: Carjacking, January 19 at 22:30.
• Rensburg: Robbery with firearm, Plein Street, January 20 at 16:45.
• R23 Balfour Road: Hijacking truck, January 15 at 15:50.
• Rensburg: Theft from motor vehicle, Romyn Street, January 22 at 19:00.
Property involved: Cellphone, TV, sound system, copper cable, Ford Ranger, meat, and a wheel.
The Heidelberg SAPS urges community members to report all crime and illegal or suspicious activities in their area because they can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported. This will also allow the police to focus on hotspots.
