Nigel NPO ignites purpose in young minds through holiday activities
Children in Alra Park spent a week of their school holidays discovering creativity, building confidence and engaging in fun learning activities, thanks to a vibrant programme led by a local NPO.
The Alra Park community came alive during the first week of the July school holidays when the local NPO, Passions for People, in partnership with Zulfa’s Consulting & Training, hosted its annual school holiday programme at the Alra Park Community Hall from July 7 to 11.
Themed Rooted in Passion, Growing with Purpose, the programme created a safe, vibrant space where children aged five and older could learn, grow, and explore their creativity in an uplifting and inclusive environment.
“Our programme empowered young children through inspirational talks and hands-on activities that reignited their love for learning, life, and creativity,” said organiser Mark Leisching.
“We saw their confidence and curiosity grow throughout the week. It was a week of learning, expression and fun.”
Passions for People, a well-established NPO serving Nigel and Alra Park, continues to drive community upliftment. Its work spans support for children, the elderly and vulnerable groups, including victims of GBV, through initiatives that promote social cohesion and development.
This school holiday programme, one of the organisation’s flagship projects, again welcomed school-going children of all races and religions for a week of educational, recreational, and creative activities. This year’s programme was filled with energy, excitement and moments of growth for all who participated.

Children engaged in a range of themed activities:
• Awareness Monday;
• Skills Development Tuesday;
• Sports and Indigenous Games Wednesday;
• Creative Expression Thursday;
• Talent Show and Certification Friday;

The programme also included arts and crafts, painting, role-playing, singing, and interactive games to nurture each child’s sense of identity and purpose.
Held daily from 08:00 to 14:00, the programme brought joy and stimulation to dozens of young minds, reinforcing the value of safe, community-based engagement during school breaks. Parents and guardians praised the initiative for offering a constructive outlet during the holidays and meaningful developmental support for their children.
“We are proud to see how this programme continues to build our future leaders. The impact goes far beyond one week. It plants seeds of purpose, creativity and confidence,” Leisching concluded.
