Nigel swimmer takes on 15km endurance challenge in Egypt for a cause

More than just a test of stamina and determination, the three-day event is also a platform for Sibusizo to raise funds and donate school uniforms and sanitary supplies to local South African schools.

Nigel resident and sports star Sibusizo Makwakwa will compete in a 15km endurance swimming event in Somabay, Egypt, from October 22 to 25.

He will take on the Aquaman 15km distance swim, a three-day challenge that tests stamina and determination.

“It is a challenging and physical race. Part of the motivation for the endurance race is to raise funds to donate uniforms and sanitary supplies to local schools,” said Sibusizo.

Sibusizo is currently swimming 15km to 20km per week.

Sibusizo is an adrenaline junkie and accomplished athlete who has competed in various endurance races.

He is a competitive open-water swimmer, a multiple Ironman finisher, and a recognised triathlete and open-water swimming coach.

Some accolades in Sibusizo’s career include multiple open-water swimming races throughout South Africa. He is an Ironman finisher (10 times to date) and completed the World Long-Distance Triathlon Championship.
