Ratanda bodybuilder Raymond Ntaopane shines in three IBFF competitions

Once ready to hang up his weights, Raymond Ntaopane is now showing that true strength has no age limit.

At 55, Raymond Ntaopane from Ratanda proves that age is no barrier to strength and determination.

The seasoned bodybuilder continues to push his limits, taking part in competitions across the region and consistently surpassing his own expectations.

Over the past few weeks, Ntaopane entered three different competitions. Throughout these events and their various disciplines, he showed the judges what he was capable of and finished at the top of his age and weight group.

The first competition took place on August 30, where Raymond walked away with gold in the 50–60-year-old category.

Next on his radar was the Krugersdorp Fire and Ice Championship, where he earned a top-seven placement in the 50–60-year-old category and sixth place in the under-90kg division.

Finally, at the All Africa Championships on September 27 at the Midrand Conference Centre, Raymond placed in the top six in both the 50–60-year-old age division and the under-90kg weight division.

All these competitions formed part of the International Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBFF).

“I aim to train every day and believe in being dedicated to the sport. If you want to be successful, you must be dedicated to your sport, go beyond the normal day-to-day existence, and train until you are tired – and then train some more if you want to succeed,” he said.

Raymond trains daily at the Anabolic Gym in Heidelberg.

A year ago, Raymond wanted to retire from bodybuilding and focus on other areas of fitness. However, his mindset changed when he realised he was not over the hill just yet and that he could still serve as an inspiration to other athletes.

Before Raymond started bodybuilding, he was active in other sporting codes, including athletics, boxing and cycling.

Following an accident while cycling, Raymond turned to bodybuilding and has not looked back since.
