Local karateka reap medals at SARMAF SA Championships
A total of 41 students participated in the championships in different categories.
After the SARMAF East-Gauteng trials in March, several students of Shihan-Dai Leon Gagiano’s Tenshinkan Karate Nigel dojo qualified to participate in the national championships.
Forty-one of these students registered to participate in the championships on June 27 in Sasolburg, in different categories such as kata, unison kata, kumite, and non-sharp weapons.
They collected a total of 72 medals at nationals, with 26 gold, 22 silver and 24 bronze medals in the mix.
