Victim Support Empowerment Centre opens its doors in Heidelberg
With teamwork and dedication, Heidelberg SAPS and community partners unveiled a new centre that promises safety and empowerment for victims of crime.
The Heidelberg Victim Support and Empowerment Centre was officially opened on October 20, marking a milestone for the community and all those involved in strengthening safety initiatives.
Chairperson of the Heidelberg CPF, Flip Minnaar, welcomed guests and expressed gratitude for the collective effort behind the project.

“As the community of Heidelberg, our hands and hearts are open to help where we can. We are here to support and ensure that the SAPS can perform their duties to the best of their ability,” said Minnaar.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Heidelberg SAPS station commander, Colonel Makgora Paul Selota, alongside key role players and partners.

The centre aims to provide a safe and welcoming space for all victims of crime, a place of comfort, support and empowerment.

Guests were also invited to symbolically leave their mark on a graffiti wall, each pressing a red-painted fingerprint as a sign of unity and commitment.

“We want to thank all the role players who helped make the centre a reality,” said Selota.

“This must be an oasis of safety for everyone who enters. To make it truly effective, the community and SAPS must continue working hand in hand.”
