Cambridge FC outplays Future of Africa Academy with a solid 3–0 win

Nigel side delivers a dominant second-half performance in wet, difficult conditions at Denel Sports Ground.

Cambridge Football Club secured a convincing 3-0 away victory over Future of Africa Academy on November 15.

The team travelled to the Denel Sports Ground in Kempton Park, where they delivered a composed and dominant performance.

The match was part of the SAFA Ekurhuleni Hollywood Bets league.

The team from Nigel was on a high from last weekend’s win and wanted to continue the trend.

The playing surface was a challenge, and Bridges changed their usual style to a more attacking one.

Cambridge started slowly and dominated possession but did not get a breakthrough.

The wet and rainy weather made it difficult; the field was heavy, and it was not easy to play attacking football.
The teams were both scoreless at halftime.

In the second half, Cambridge’s coach made changes to both players and tactics.

Cambridge started attacking regularly. At the 50-minute mark, Bridges received a free kick.

Banele Battery Mashanini struck the ball powerfully to break the deadlock and put Cambridge ahead for the first time in the match.

The home team tried different tactics. They launched attacks on Cambridge’s goal, but good saves from the Bridges goalkeeper kept the home team scoreless.

The Nigel team’s second goal was scored by Bonolo Khama Nakedi after a great build-up by the team.

The third goal was a long-range strike scored in the 80th minute to put Cambridge in a commanding 3-0 lead.

“We will gladly take the points under different playing conditions and credit to the players who listened and executed my instructions,” said Kamohelo Motloung, Cambridge head coach.

“As a team, we need to focus and get points away from home. We are now preparing for the home derby. We hope to emerge victorious, but it won’t be easy.”

Cambridge FC chairperson Ignatius Maphike said, “We need to continue to push and be consistent with our results. I’m happy for the team with this away win. It’s never easy on the road.

“We call on the community to get involved in supporting the team. We also encourage young men in our community to play sports to help us curb social ills like alcohol abuse, drug abuse, and gangsterism in our community.”
