GNK Auto launches heartwarming Christmas drive to support Nigel’s less fortunate children

GNK Auto's owner, Cerkia De Souza Diaz, has launched her first Christmas drive to bring joy to underprivileged children in Nigel, and the community is already rallying behind her to make it a festive season to remember.

GNK Auto in Nigel is spreading festive cheer this December with its first Christmas drive aimed at bringing joy to underprivileged children in the community.

Owner and director Cerkia De Souza Diaz said the idea for the initiative came to her unexpectedly a week ago, but she immediately felt the need to make it a reality.

“There are so many children in Nigel who go without during the festive season, and it breaks my heart. I have always believed that even the smallest act of kindness can plant a seed of hope.

“When the idea came to me, I felt this strong pull to do something, even if it was just a small step. This is my first Christmas drive, and I want it to be special, meaningful, and filled with love for the children who need it most,” she said.

De Souza Diaz said she has partnered with community safety structures. This includes the CPF and Burgerbeskerming members Malan Welsch and Marius Fox. They are assisting with the arrangements to ensure a smooth and safe event.

“Support has also poured in from several suppliers and friends who were eager to get involved. Martin and his wife from Tokyo Torque Tech in Nigel, Husain from Q4U in Krugersdorp, Justin and Ilana Boshoff from Nigel, and Neal and Zani Hurter from Randburg contributed by providing gifts, sweets, and other treats to brighten the children’s Christmas.

“I’m overwhelmed by how quickly people offered to help. Seeing everyone come together shows just how much heart our community has. I am grateful to everyone contributing – not just to me but to the children who will be receiving these gifts,” she said.

De Souza Diaz emphasised that the initiative is strictly donation-based and no monetary contributions will be accepted.

“Anyone who wants to help can donate small gifts or sweets. Every little bit makes a difference, and together we can make this Christmas brighter for children who deserve to feel seen, loved, and celebrated,” she said.

Anyone who wants to donate or participate in the Christmas drive can contact 083 452 2350.
