The local SAPS released these crime statistics reported between February 2 and 8.

These stats are shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1:

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve).

• Spaarwater: Common Assault, R23 Benoni Road, February 5.

• R42 Nigel Road: Robbery with firearm, R42 Nigel Road, February 2.

Property involved: Money, cellphone, ID and driver’s licence.

Sector 2:

(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein).

• Shalimar Ridge: Common Assault, Kismet Street, February 6.

• Heidelberg Central: Attempted theft of motor vehicle, Louw Street, February 4.

• Heidelberg CBD: Theft general, Strydom Street, February 5.

• Heidelberg Ext 6: Attempted theft of motor vehicle, Viljoen Street, February 3.

Property involved: Toyota Hilux, cellphone, Toyota Land Cruiser.

Sector 3: (Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lasgerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal).

The following weekly arrest successes were reported: Overloading (2), possession of drugs (6), common assault (2), common assault under domestic violence (1), drunk and driving (5) and dealing in drugs (1).
