Community members converged at the Ratanda Multipurpose Hall on February 28 to pay their final respects to Webster “Poni Poni” Kotoane (39), who died on February 22.
Friends, family, colleagues and residents came together to celebrate his life and reflect on the lasting impact he had both in the entertainment industry and within the local community.
Kotoane, a voice-over artist and actor known for his role in the television drama Isitha The Enemy, was remembered for his creativity, humility and warm personality.
Local resident, Lerato Dlamini said they are still deeply hurt about Kotane’s untimely passing.
“It was incredible to see the community come together today. Everyone here has a story about him and how he encouraged them, how he made them laugh, or simply how he was always there when someone needed support,” she said.
Family friend Sipho Nkosi described Kotoane’s generosity and commitment to the arts.
“He loved his craft, but more importantly, he loved people. He used his platform to uplift others and never forgot where he came from. Ratanda has lost a shining star, but his legacy will live on in our hearts,” he said.
Kotoane was remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the deep personal connections he forged with the people around him.
The funeral service was a mixture of mourning and celebration, reflecting a life that left a meaningful mark on the community.
