Heidelberg residents urged to use water sparingly as Lesedi reports critical supply

The Lesedi Local Municipality has warned of critically low water levels following reduced intake pressure from Rand Water, with Heidelberg Command and Emmasdal reservoirs sitting at just 10%.

Residents across Heidelberg and the surrounding areas are urged to use water sparingly as the Lesedi Local Municipality confirmed that the water supply remains at a critical level.

In its latest status update issued on March 2, the municipality reported low intake pressure from Rand Water, currently sitting at 200kPa. The reduced pressure is significantly affecting the overall supply to local reservoirs.

According to the update, the reservoir levels are as follows:

Heidelberg Command: 10% ( critical supply)

• Rensburg: 80% ( Fair supply)

• Emmasdal: 10% ( critical supply)

Residents are encouraged to limit water usage to essential needs only until the system recovers.

For water-related queries, residents can contact the municipal call centre on 016 466 1901.
