Residents urged to co-operate as Lesedi begins water monitoring and conservation testing

Lesedi Local Municipality has launched a water monitoring and conservation testing programme aimed at improving water supply reliability, identifying leaks and reducing water losses across all wards in the municipality.

The Lesedi Local Municipality has announced the implementation of a water monitoring and conservation testing programme aimed at improving water management and reducing the frequency of water supply interruptions across the municipality.

According to a public notice issued on May 18, the testing process will run until May 29 as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen water distribution systems and address water losses.

The municipality stated that the exercise is intended to monitor water consumption patterns, identify leaks and illegal connections, improve water distribution efficiency, and minimise recurring water cuts experienced by residents.

As part of the programme, municipal officials and appointed technical teams may require access to selected residential properties to inspect water meters, pipelines and related infrastructure. The inspections will take place across all wards within Lesedi Local Municipality.

Residents have been urged to co-operate with authorised officials by ensuring water meter areas are accessible and by reporting visible leaks or other water-related problems during the inspection period.

Municipal spokesperson Katleho Seaga said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve service delivery and strengthen the municipality’s water management systems.

“Through this water monitoring and conservation testing programme, the municipality aims to improve water supply reliability, identify water losses and ensure that our infrastructure is functioning efficiently.
“We appeal to residents to co-operate with authorised officials during the inspection process as we work towards strengthening service delivery across Lesedi,” he said.

The municipality also assured residents that all officials conducting inspections will carry official identification and authorisation letters.

Lesedi Local Municipality said the initiative forms part of efforts to improve water supply reliability and promote water conservation within the municipality.
